Week 44: OK, a brunette, a redhead, and a blonde walk in ...Sister Underly's Adventures

Alrighty to say this week was crazy is a complete understatement. 

This week Sister Grandy and I gave 2 trainings. One in Reno for another zone and then one in Carson City for our zone. We also had a bomb pupusa night with the Relief Society. That rocked! I got to make homemade pupusas! SUPER delicious. I was a happy missionary. We also did 3 exchanges also this week! Insanity.

I went with Sister Lawson on Wednesday and we had such a great time in Dayton. We heard the most inspirational conversion story ever. People are truly searching for the truth and they just don't know where to find it. We have what they need. I am so grate

ful for the knowledge of the gospel and the peace and joy and happiness it brings into our lives. We have such a loving Heavenly Father that knows us and will never leave us. 

Honestly this week was super great and super difficult. But it was great nonetheless. Friday we went on exchanges again! I went with Sister Barton and Sister Gali! They are amazing. I love how they just bore their testimonies with their whole soul! Sister Gali is from Samoa and she joined the church just 3 years ago and is learning english and just rocks it out there! They are such inspirations to me of working hard and fulfilling our purpose as a missionary. 

Saturday Adriana and Denise were baptized! They are amazing! They were beyond prepared! I mean to think that we met them like a month ago and to see them in white and enter the waters of baptism brought complete joy to my heart. 

So there was this blonde, brunette, and a red head....our companionship is the beginning of a joke. We are now in a trio. We are taking over 2 areas and 2 wards....Sister Golding(red head) and Sister Grandy(brunette)  and I(blonde and usually the ending of the joke). This is an adventure. We are combining our efforts so we will be going to different areas every other day. 

I love you all. Thank you for all your support. I am so grateful to be a missionary in these latter days. I have a testimony of the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. I know that the Book of Mormon is ANOTHER TESTAMENT OF JESUS CHRIST and that Joseph Smith is a prophet of God. I love my Savior.

Week 43-How do I speak English again?? Fun times!

Hi family and friends! 

Well this week was crazy! We had transfers this week and I was moved to english speaking STL (Sister Training Leader) still here in Carson City and same ward. Heavenly Father has made me step COMPLETELY out of my comfort zone haha. I know it is so I can grow. I am with Sister Grandy who is amazing. She is such a hard worker and a great example to me. I am happy that Sister Friend is here! I have missed her! 

So this week I got to know the english people that we are teaching. It is interesting to say the least...working with a very different culture than the last 10 months. I feel like I am in a whole new world!  It is so different than the hispanic culture. I am actually struggling with teaching the gospel in english. I have accidentally said spanish words in our lessons! What is wrong with me??! haha

Anyways we had so many miracles happen this week! It is so cool to see how Heavenly Father places people in our path! We had this leadership meeting this week with all the Zone leaders and STLs. We talked about the spirit and how we can truly have the spirit as our guide and follow it. As missionaries we strive to have the Spirit in our lessons because we know the Spirit touches hearts and changes them. We cannot force someone to accept the gospel. They have to make that decision to accept it. Otherwise we would be taking away their agency which is against God's plan. The Spirit is the one who teaches. Not us. That is something that is a challenge for a lot of members of the church but really if it entices you to do good it is of the Spirit whether it is bearing your testimony or giving service to someone or thinking about visiting someone that is in need.

By applying the Atonement of Jesus Christ, you can begin increasing your spiritual confidence today if you are willing to listen and act. It is super bold talk but everyone should definitely take time to read it!

Something that I loved that I read in Preach My Gospel this week was, "All that is unfair about life can be made right through the atonement of Jesus Christ...Only through the gift of the atonement can we return to live with God." Everything that we teach of is of Christ and His Atonement. We can truly find peace and comfort in the Atonement. We apply it daily and joyfully. We can receive that spiritual healing. 

I love this gospel. I know that it has brought ALL the happiness in my life and it will bring all the happiness in the lives of others as we embrace the gospel. I know that Heavenly Father blesses us as we live the gospel with all of our heart might mind and strength. I am so grateful to be a missionary here in the last days. I know that the gospel is for EVERYONE. The gospel blesses all who accept it and live it!

Week 42-Hermana Underly's New Adventure/New Assignment

Happy 4th of July

Hi fam and friends!

Happy late 4th of JULY! 

This week was seriously a wirlwind! Wow the mission life goes by so fast! It is insane! 6 weeks just flew by! Hermana Barker and I had a ton of adventures. We had an awesome district meeting this past week that has just changed the mission for me! It has been a super successful method! We just feel so inspired. It's fantastic! 

So we met the new mission President this week. President and Sister Chesnut. They are such incredible people. We had to drive all the way out to Fallon to go meet them. It was interesting. I felt that I was being disloyal to President Hermansen. I am however super grateful for the new President and his dear wife. It will be a great next 8 months with them :) I am looking forward to that.

We also found out that our dear sweet Boyd K. Packer passed away. Our ZL (Zone Leader) texted us and let us know. It was super sad even though we all knew that it was pretty close. Wow in one transfer we had 2 apostles pass away. Crazy. 

Also this week we celebrated 4th of July! A couple wards meet together at the parking lot and we have the perfect view for the fireworks. It was super fun because Adriana and Denise came and we had a blast. We ate and talked and enjoyed a blissful cool night in Carson City Nevada with some great fireworks to end the night! 

Transfer calls came last night...I have a new assignment- Underly is going to Carson City English Speaking as a STL (Sister Training Leader) with Sister Grandy. What?. I am staying in the same ward. Crazy... But I am transferring to english. I love Sister Grandy. She will be leaving in the next transfer. My old companion Sister Friend will be coming here with Sister Barker so that is pretty cool. I just love the spanish language. But wherever I am needed, I will go.

I know that we are living in the last days. I know that we need to be firm in the faith and stand strong in what we believe. God's laws will never change just because the world is changing. Let us be diligent in the basics of the gospel so we can build our testimony on a sure foundation. I am grateful for the gospel and the truthfulness of it. I am thankful to be able to have this strength in my life. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Days Saints is the only true and living church on the earth today.
